The Great Charity Pot Sale is a new international fundraising event, created to both support independent ceramic artists and benefit local charities. The first online event will launch on 30 January 2021, and it will feature talented artists from communities across the world.
The idea for the event was conceived in 2020; in the midst of the pandemic, ceramicist Lorna worried for the future of her local charities and the communities they supported. Her own experience, having a child with Down Syndrome, had led her to understand the value of the support, friendship and kindness of her local charity network. Lorna decided it was time to give back.
The Great Charity Pot Sale is an opportunity for artists to showcase their work, to put a spotlight on valuable community networks, and to fundraise at the same time.
Each participating artist chooses a local charity and the piece(s) of ceramic art that they will sell in the event. The pieces are then promoted on Instagram using the hashtag #thegreatcharitypotsale and through the event organiser’s page.
The Great Charity Pot Sale will take place on Saturday 30th January, through Instagram and the individual potters selling platforms. Funds raised will benefit a range of charities including the Air Ambulance, food banks, refugee charities, animal welfare, MS charities, Horatio’s Garden and Sunshine & Smiles.
Lorna is also running a raffle to win one of her swift sculptures as part of The Great Charity Pot Sale, with donations going directly to Sunshine & Smiles.
Each donation of £3 will enter you into the draw.
The winner will be announced at 9.30am on 30th January.
