Do you want to help shape the way a national museum shares the histories of disabled people in their displays?
The Royal Armouries in Leeds, is working with historians from Manchester Metropolitan University. Together, they are finding stories about disabled people in history. They want your ideas of how the museum should collect and show objects and stories related to disability in the future.
Join them for a consultation event on Wednesday 26th November from 5pm – 7pm.
At this event, they will:
- Ask what you think about the work so far.
- Show you historic objects from the museum.
- Tell you the stories of disabled people linked to these objects.
- Ask what types of histories you would like to see in the future.
The Royal Armouries will:
- Provide food and drink
- Pay for your travel
- Give you a £50 High Street gift card to say thank you for your time.
The project is led by Professor Rosamund Oates, a historian at Manchester Metropolitan University. She runs a research group called ‘Cultures of Disability’. Other historians from this group will also be at the event.
