Join us this week: SEND Reforms parent/carer meeting

With only 2 weeks to go until the Government’s SEND Reforms consultation closes, we are holding a face-to-face meeting for Sunshine and Smiles parents and carers this week.

• Date:           Thursday 7th May
• Time:           12:30pm - 2:30pm
• Location:     TCV Hollybush (in the Roundhouse) Broad Lane, Kirkstall LS5 3BP

We want to hear your thoughts so that we can feed back as an organisation into the consultation.  But it is also important that you complete the survey individually so that as many responses as possible are submitted, and we can help with any questions you may have.  We will also be sending out a survey to gather your views if you can't make the meeting. 

A few weeks ago, we held our first, online focus group with parents and carers to discuss concerns.  You can find a link to the meeting transcript in the Sunshine and Smiles - SEND Reform White Paper WhatsApp group.

Every voice really does matter.  Here’s a reminder of what else you can do to make sure your voice is heard and your concerns are raised:

• I.P.S.E.A have created email templates to help you write to your local MP here about why this matters to you.

• Save Our Children’s Rights is organising national protests around the country, including in Leeds, on Saturday 9th May - which everyone is invited to attend.  Please see their social media pages for more details and you can register to let them know you will be attending

• There is also a petition that Save Our Children’s Rights are backing, by 14 year old Tee-Jay, who has an EHCP.  You can sign the petition here.
