Downloadable Resources for Schools

The team at Down Syndrome International have a range of resources to help you to celebrate WDSD 2024, to access these you just need to sign up to their 'resources hub'

Charity 'Positive about Down Syndrome' have some useful resources for schools about Down Syndrome Awareness, including lesson plan ideas for KS1 and KS2. Click here to see the downloadable school resources.

Over on twinkl you can download some free resources such as this 'Design a pair of odd socks' colouring sheet. 

The school of one of our Sunshine & Smiles children has also produced this simple powerpoint to explain what we are celebrating and why.

Videos

Down Syndrome International have produced this video to explain 'What is World Down Syndrome Day?'.

This video aimed at explaining Down Syndrome to children has also been produced in partnership with I Am Me Scotland, Wouldn't Change a Thing and Down's Syndrome Scotland.

 

Books

Here is a list of books where the main character has Down Syndrome, that we put together for National Storytelling Week. 

The fantastic George Webster has also just published his second children's book 'Why Not?' after the success of his first, 'This is Me'.
