'SPEECH AND LANGUAGE NETWORK NORTH' is a Speech and Language Traning Day being held by The Down Syndrome Training & Support Service in Bingley.
It will be held on Wednesday 16th June, 9.30 to 2.30 and is open for bookings from Speech and Language Therapists across the North of England. Please do share this event with your Speech and Language Therapist and schools (many of whom use private SLT support).
Here's some more info about the event:
For many years now The Down Syndrome Training and Support Service have delivered training specifically for speech & language therapists on a range of topics. Sadly we had to cancel the day in 2020 due to the pandemic.
We are delighted to invite therapists to this training day, called ‘back to basics’ with Dr Wendy Uttley and Lauren Drake.
In the morning Wendy Uttley will cover the learning profile and health needs of a child with Down syndrome, teaching strategies and ideas to manage behaviour. After lunch Lauren Drake will talk about adult—child interaction, the complexity of communication and the communication chain.
We have decided on this theme as it is always good to reflect on practice, especially as we move back towards direct input with children.
