Earlier in the month, Ailith attended the Leeds City Council Primary and Secondary SEN Conference and Exhibition yesterday to meet special educational needs co-ordinators and colleagues from nurseries & schools across Leeds to let them know how we can offer workshops, advice & guidance around ensuring children and young people with Down syndrome are well supported in a nursery or school setting.
We can offer free workshops, advice and support for nurseries and schools around the specific learning profile and support needs of children and young people with Down syndrome.
These include:
- Staff team workshops - An Introduction to Down Syndrome
- Attendance at meetings - EHCP reviews, ISAR or IEP reviews or joining meetings with other agencies such as SENIT
- General advice and support by arrangement
We are also hoping to re-start our teaching assistant forums on a regular basis so that teaching assistants from across Leeds who are supporting a child or young person with Down syndrome can come together for information and advice, peer support and sharing good practice.
