Hi everyone! Our names are Phoebe and Eve and together we are starting up a Sunshine & Smiles Siblings group, which we are super excited about!
Our aim is to create a fun but safe space for siblings of those with Down syndrome. We want it to be personalised to our Sunshine siblings and will be running fortnightly sessions based around the group’s interests and passions. Because of Covid, we will be running the sessions through Zoom for now but hope it can still be an engaging place for young people to share their own experiences of being a sibling of a child with Down syndrome - the magical, the challenging and all the bits in between! We also have some really exciting activities and crafts to share with you all too.
A bit about us: we both love arts and crafts, exploring Leeds on walks, music we can dance away to and movie nights together! We are both training in separate branches of nursing and are very excited and proud to also be part of the Sunshine and Smiles team. We can’t wait for 21 Co. cafe to be back open for some of their famous chocolate cake too!
Our group will initially be for siblings between the ages of 8-12 so if you think you’d like to get involved, please email ailith@sunshineandsmiles.org.uk.
We are so looking forward to meeting you all.
Phoebe & Eve
