Ailith and Celine attended Leeds City Council’s launch of the new Inclusive Mainstream Practice (IMP) framework last week, a citywide commitment to strengthening how schools support and include children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities.
The framework sets out clear expectations, practical tools and examples of good practice that every mainstream school in Leeds should be working to. It aims to ensure that inclusion isn’t dependent on individual staff or settings, but is embedded consistently across the whole system.
We encourage all families to take a few minutes to explore the Inclusive Mainstream Practice website and familiarise themselves with the guidance. This is the standard schools are expected to follow, and understanding it can help families feel more confident in conversations with schools about support, adjustments and inclusion.
As always we are also here to offer advice and support if you feel your child or young person is not getting the support they need.
