After almost 2 years, Cafe 21 at Hollybush closed its doors on Friday. It was a lovely day with so many good luck sentiments and farewells. The team received some heartfelt cards from the TCV Hollybush team and they even received a final visit from a little Robin who’s been a regular visitor!
Thank you to everyone who has visited Cafe 21 over the last (almost) 2 years, the team has loved serving you. We've been able to employ and train lots of team members with Down syndrome who have all flourished and gained valuable life skills whilst being in paid work. Thank you also to all of the support staff, volunteers and employees for their time, patience and enthusiasm.
The team has not quite hung up the aprons yet - our plan for the future is to run a community canteen at Acclaim House, to serve the families we support before and after activities and groups. Nina has already been busy in the kitchen this morning, preparing fruit and snacks for the Sunbeams groups and serving drinks and nibbles to parents.
And don't forget, if you’re already missing your coffee and cake fix, you can still visit our lovely cafe and shop, 21 Co. in Headingley.
