Developing a new parent / carer participation forum in Leeds
Catherine Ratcliffe is an Associate working for Contact (formerly Contact a Family), Contact is the delivery partner for the Department for Education for Parent Participation.
Catherine will be working with parents and carers in Leeds to engage parents and carers to develop a new Parent Carer Forum for the City.
As you may be aware the previous forum in Leeds has now ended.
The purpose of participation in this context is to ensure better outcomes for children and young people with SEND and their families. It is about the involvement of parents with a range of professionals and strategic managers in the early stages of planning and the subsequent delivery of services. The benefit of actively involving parents in decision-making is an integral part of government legislation and plans, and evidence suggests that services are improved when parents are actively involved in shaping them.
We would like to invite parents / carers to one of the virtual meeting listed below to discuss how parent participation and co-production might be developed further in Leeds. It is essential that as parents/carers that it is your voice that is heard in the design and development of services for your children and young people.
Please join in to find out how you can play your part in achieving better outcomes for children with SEND
The meetings will be on :
-
Thursday 22nd September 10-00am to 11-30 am
-
Monday 26th September 12-00 to 1-30pm
