We’re very excited to announce that Sunshine & Smiles and 21 Co. have been chosen to participate in this year’s Co-op Local Community Fund!
The Co-op Local Community Fund supports projects across the UK, and once you’ve chosen Sunshine & Smiles as your charity to support, every time you buy selected Co-op branded products and services (remembering to use your membership card!), we'll receive a donation!
You can find out all about the Co-op Local Community Fund and how to use it to support Sunshine & Smiles here: https://membership.coop.co.uk/causes/76362

How we’re going to be using this funding
Only 5.1% of adults with a learning disability are in paid work in England. We would like this to change.
21 Co. offers paid work experience for 10 people with Down Syndrome at the moment, but we wish to create an employment pathway so we have a clear process of offering training and work experience. This would include building a portfolio of competencies and looking at things like creating a CV and practising interview skills. We will then be able to help people to move forward into other paid work opportunities.
In the long term we would like to extend this model of working across the whole of Sunshine & Smiles to make sure we can offer this opportunity to as many people with Down Syndrome in Leeds as possible.
