After much discussion and deliberation the Trustees and staff have taken the difficult decision to postpone this year’s Christmas Party. We are very sorry and we know it is a real disappointment to have to do this.
However, we feel that with the emergence of a new Covid variant, bringing with it many unknowns, to hold an event with over 300 people, where we cannot adequately ensure Covid secure measures such as social distancing & mask wearing for the duration of the party, just brings too much risk to our children and young people; particularly when we know that people with Down syndrome are more vulnerable to the effects of Coronavirus.
We are still hoping to arrange some way of getting presents to our families and we will let you know as soon as we have clearer plans!
We have only postponed the event and are looking to perhaps hold a Summer party, Covid issues permitting of course, but want to reassure you that as soon as we are able to we will make sure there is a time where we can all come together and enjoy seeing each other.
Again, I am really sorry that we’ve had to take this decision, but everyone's health & wellbeing has to be priority at the moment.
