Last Friday was World Down Syndrome Day, and to celebrate, the family care team from the neonatal wards at St James and LGI, in partnership with Sunshine & Smiles, re-launched the baby suitcase scheme, which is inspired by charity Diff-Ability.
These suitcases are given to families of babies with a diagnosis of Down syndrome and contain lots of information and goodies to offer support for the days and months following the birth of their little one.
The suitcases are funded by the Leeds Hospital Charity and done with the help of Giving World, the Learning Disability and Autism Team and the Family Care Team at LTH.
As well as these welcome suitcases, our charity support workers also do hospital visits.
If you’re in the Leeds area and have a new baby who has Down syndrome, please get in touch with us whenever you’re ready. We’re here for you.
