Makaton Signing for Babies and Families

Makaton Signing for Babies and Families is for parents, family members or carers who would like to sign with babies and children in their care and have no previous Makaton training. All the sessions are for parents/carers with their babies and it is designed to encourage the development of communication and language skills in babies and toddlers.

The course will be delivered by Ania who is a licensed Makaton trainer and will consist of six 1-hour long sessions that will take place on Mondays at 12:30 to 13:30 at Stainbeck Community Hall on the following dates. We strongly advise that you attend all of the sessions.

The training is certified and intended as introduction to Makaton, which is a complete language programme that uses signs, symbols and speech to encourage communication skills.

Over the course of six weeks we will cover early Makaton signs and symbols and provide you with a range of tools that lay foundation for future vocabulary expansion and further training. We will be using a wide range of resources, songs and activities. The course is fun, hands-on and requires no previous knowledge!

As a part of the training you will be given MSBF pocket book of signs and symbols, as well as weekly session handouts with loads of useful tips and information.
