‘I want to ride my bike’ - Cycling Tuition Sessions

Dave Burns from I Want to Ride My Bike will be running sessions for Sunshine & Smiles on Wednesday 21st August, at the Bodington Cycle Track at the Brownlee Centre.

Dave is experienced in teaching children with Down syndrome to ride their bike and has helped many Sunshine & Smiles families in the past.

Due to the high demand for this, we will be running this as 4 age specific group sessions of up to 4 children in each group. The purpose of these sessions will be to help and encourage parents and carers in working with their child towards riding a bike independantly, although Dave will work with the children on practical skills too.

The sessions will be suitable for those with Down syndrome aged 5 years through to adulthood. Unfortunately due to the hands-on nature of the sessions which requires parent or carer supervision throughout, we are unable to allow siblings under 16 years to attend.

The structure of the day will be as follows:

• 10:00-11:15 AGE 5-6 years
• 11:25-12:40 AGE 8-12 years 
• 12:50-14:05 AGE 7 years
• 14:15-15:30 AGE 13+ years

Please only book onto the correct time for your child's age. If the appropriate session is full, there is an option to join the waitlist. We hope to run more sessions in the future so that everyone gets a chance for some help.
